Where a picture’s worth a thousand woofs!

Barber Park 2.24.08 February 28, 2008

I had a chance to visit Barber Park for the first time (Gatlin Ave. in between 436 and Conway) and it’s SO cool. There’s a separate area for big and small dogs as well agility-type playground equipment for those wishing to take it to the next level. I think that’s awesome. Anyhoo, I was there during the 3 year anniversary get-together for the local Cavalier Club. It was most fabulous and so great to meet everybody! A quick search on this blog will tell you that I adore Cavaliers because they are angelic and have the best floppity-Seuss feet. So you can imagine being around so many at once, I almost went into aCUTE cardiac arrest…Yeah, there’s a reason I’m a photographer and not a stand-up comic. Anyway, enjoy the pics! 😉

Three cheers for therapy dogs!

Not a Cavalier but still totally adorable. 😉

Gracie October 25, 2007

As you might already know, I love Cavaliers because they have floppity feet and bon bons for noses and I just want to eat them up after they’ve been dusted with chocolate flakes. Gracie was certainly no exception.

She allowed me to get to know her on two conditions…She politely demanded that I scratch her belly at every opportunity and present her with delectable treats when not performing said belly scratching activity.

I couldn’t stop squealing over her as she was such a wonderful little being. Very confident, sweet and wonderfully spoiled. How can you not spoil something with eyes like that, I mean seriously?! A huge cuddle bug in a little body. Squeeee!

Gracie loves her cushy doughnut bed (mmm…doughnuts) and rather enjoyed when I choo-chooed her around the living room floor in it. To her, it was just another day on a gondola. She also has a brand new sister (of the canine variety) who silently watched us with her giant moon eyes. The only thing that can share a trophy with Cavalier cuteness is a Cavalier who’s 8 weeks old (more squealing). When little Sophie gets older, hopefully she’ll become one of my models too. Thank you Gracie’s Dad (Brent) for giving Gracie’s Mom (Laura) a happy birthday that I got to participate in. It was a pleasure to work with all of you. 🙂

Isabella, Riley & Charlie Brown- 2008 SPCA Calendar March June 16, 2007

Okay, I officially LOVE Cavalier King Charles spaniels. I’m pretty sure Dr. Suess had one at some point because they have Seuss feet and Seuss tails. And Seuss hair and Suess nails…
Anyway, these three were such a tight-knit bunch. They honestly liked to hang out with one another and each had such great personalities!
Isabella is the petite little lady whose face I’d like to just pinch and squeeze. I settled for just squealing over her though. Such a little angel!
Riley, oh Riley. Riley is the sweetest little guy who wants to be a part of the group and enjoys just observing from a comfortable snooze spot. He reminded me of the cowardly lion except without the coward part (he’s the same color though) or John Goodman if we’re onto celebrity look-a-likes.
Charlie Brown is lizard hunter extraordinaire and prefers the more active lifestyle. He has great eyes and likes to watch over his sister.

My husband acted as my assistant on this shoot and the next day he actually had Riley’s whimper stuck in his head like a song. Hubby says, “I actually miss hearing it. I think I miss them, they were really cool dogs.” I laughed out loud since I had to con him into being my assistant in the first place…and then I agreed. It was 4 hours of fabulousness.

Fiona & Charlotte June 12, 2007

I had seen these two at events over the past two years and wanted to shoot them so bad! So when their Mom booked a session I felt like I had finally been asked to the prom (sigh). The mutt-acious combination of which they are created couldn’t be cuter as I just wanted to eat them up.
Fiona is a Pug/Beagle/Terrier who, according to her Mom, resembles the creature in Alien: Resurrection. I agree, except Fiona’s WAY cuter (and less slimy). She’s not a big fan of the grass and she has stark white terrier hairs on her face that stand out great.
Charlotte is a Dachshund/Cavalier mix who goes cuh-RAZY over tennis balls. She’s even climbed book shelves to retrieve hidden ones! She’s low to the ground and plows right throught the yard when one is thrown. So fast, that she’s back before I could even get the camera up to my eye!
She’s so funny and she didn’t mind me throwing a sheet over her head, either. She’ll do anything if the end result is a ball being thrown.

I had a lot of fun with these guys and it didn’t end up like Lenny and the rabbits from Of Mice & Men. It totally could have too, because I just wanted to pet them and pet them and pet them and pinch their little cheeks and pet them….
