Dog Fest 2008 April 25, 2008

How much fun was this?! I’ll tell you. Combine a bunch of dogs, a worthy charity and a flowing bar and you’ve got the best doggone street party this side of the Atlantic. Dog Fest is held annually in downtown Orlando and benefits the Cian Griffin Cystic Fibrosis Fund. I had so much fun and met so many awesome people with equally awesome dogs. There was music, mingling and contests which included a dog that, get this….peed while standing on his two front legs. Twice. For an audience. I know! Excuse me sir, it’s illegal to park in front of a fire hydrant.

Fleet People’s Park 2.5.08 February 7, 2008

I spent a lovely couple of hours at Fleet People’s Park in Winter Park this week. Why? Because I’ve been traveling, photographing at dog parks all over the place and haven’t been to one locally in quite some time. The nerve I have! So, I packed up and went to go meet some new friends. And I did. And they were more than ridiculously, stupendously CUTE! I’m also going to make this a habit because it really is so much fun.

Boomerang’s parents are going to start a new trend. Dual ownership! Yeah, it’s genius. He has two homes and it’s not because of a break-up followed by a custody battle. One set of owners are musicians and they travel a lot. They didn’t want to give the dog up so they sought out a 2nd owner. A stranger heard the word and thought it a wonderful idea. All have since become the best of friends (so much so that they have a pet sitter when they all travel together :-)).

I can attest to the benefits of this arrangement as “Boomie” (their nickname for him) is very well-rounded, very independent (he takes himself for walks and moves to the shoulder when an unknown car approaches) and an incredibly huggable pup.
